The political and social crises of the Gambia needs a monitory management by the government as to influence a peaceful nation. The country has long been at the door step of crises and tensions arising politically and socially including murders, corruption, riots or strikes, political instabilities and public criticisms. Misunderstanding democracy has no excuse for democracy is allowing people to take part in government decisions instead of one person doing so. People taking part in decision makings only during elections and sidelined in the fore front of the movement has indicated that leadership in the Gambia misunderstood democratic rule as the former president of the Gambia Yahya Jammeh is an autocratic leader who for 22 years has not allow a single majority decision to development and has been in power unsupervised. The problems that may affect the country can be identified by a majority decision and supervision, so as those decisions can be either put on vote or optional selection by the people of the Gambia. Currently the government decisions are modest and slightly at a weight of growth but peace has its left wing broken with respect to security in night clubs, night control, theft, murders and riots or strikes. The government has allow the international regional and economic bodies to interfere and this has reduce fears of geminated civil wars or crime jumps.
Many of the crimes in the Gambia is due to the poor border control and supervision because as criminals penetrate the nation, the rate of crime increases. How many ways are there to enter the Gambia, The Gambia Immigration Department uses the tactic of internal surveillance more isolated from the border control surveillance, The borders of the Gambia are intercepted by both Casamance and Senegal where this two zones have been in conflict for years and during those times a lot has penetrated the borders but with all these the Gambia has no refugee camp to classify. The issuance of non national with diplomatic passports is a misconduct and illegal act committed in the country which has been traced by the current government.
The control of political parties to demonstrate a concentration on development is a priority, there should be no conflict in political movements. Political supervision through proper voters registration and a defined electoral result checking. The case of the 2016 presidential elections where the independent electoral commissioner scramble to read electoral results twice and this is due to poor result checking and preparations. A government is a political body that when voted in office represents the nation, election mal practicing is a misconduct that is existing and it has created rise in conflicts and has to be dealt with by ratifications of Yahya Jammeh’s electoral policies and laws. The demolition of Jammeh’s electoral formation and the use of a formation that apply a fair democracy like a digital biometric recording electoral list and the allowing of citizens outside the country to have a chance to vote in a digital supervised monitoring because this will help in the engagement of all in the country’s presidential decision.
The amendment of internal security policies by a resolution that will bring control to murders and theft and this resolution should be that it generates peace by involving all units of its security to a united front communication nation wide. Grapevine communication or incommunicado within the security system or setup means poor result will be gain so there should be a means of contact between the security sector and the people. Also the police use physical means of controlling traffics in the Gambia and traffic lights only exist in few junctions of the nation, digital road control surveillance is proper to avoid accidents than physical control. Some of these may be due to lack of funds but training and development goes a long way in attracting talent and knowledge to acquire certain functions. The security resolution can also be such that people are highly involve in functioning and implementations through employment or engagement.
Social misconducts like social fragmentation where classification is base on race or ethnic is always leading to conflicts. The Gambia needs to be classify as a nation with one people since racism and ethnic division prevails like accusing each other of being witches or discrimination that are directly pointed to a race or ethnicity.
The current government has greatly tried to stabilize the nation from the commission of enquiry to the TRRC which need to continue operation even after the next presidential elections. The investigations has all proven that former president Yahya Jammeh is not only a thief who had went away with closer to a billion dalasis but has also tortured, illegally imprison and murder a lot of Gambians.
The constitution of the Gambia should be free from laws that are brutal and unfavorable to the general public like the case of the APRC government introducing a death penalty law for murderers whilst this give the party the chance to commit atrocities of murders and theft. The Gambia needs to be free and our freedom greatly depend on the willingness to scrutinize and confirm our strengths towards development and not competing for a position you cannot which you cannot proof any capabilities.
